Christmas gift ideas for terrier owners

Are you looking for inspiration for Christmas gifts for terrier owners?

Maybe you are one yourself or you have one in your life – if so, look no further.

My dog Patch is a delightful mix of Parsons Russell Terrier, Border Terrier, Jack Russell and Wire Fox Terrier.

Before Patch was Daisy, who was Parsons Russell Terrier, Border Terrier, Jack Russell and Lakeland Terrier.

They look different but have similar traits and such similar DNA too – it’s remarkable isn’t it?

Anyway, if you are a terrier mum or dad you will know what bundles of fun they are and what characters they can be.

So this year I thought I would do a dedicated guide of Christmas gifts for terrier owners.

Do let me know how you get on if you try any of the recommended pressies.

Christmas gift terrier owners durable toy
The West Paw dispenser is one of the few terrier proof toys we’ve found!

West Paw Treat Dispenser

I don’t know about your pup but both of mine could destroy any toy and don’t even get me started on ones with stuffing in.

So I’m always on the lookout for an indestructible one and I discovered the West Paw Zogoflex Qwizl (that’s a mouthful in itself) at The Dog Hoose in Newcastle.

Owner Sarah had just had them shipped from America and it is so tough. You can use it as a fetch  toy or stuff it with treats and they can go in the dishwasher.

Scruffy Little Terrier hoodie
This SLT hoodie is a dog mum essential

Scruffy Little Terrier hoodie

You can never have too many Crazy Dog Lady jumpers can you and we love the new range from our friend Michelle at Scruffy Little Terrier.

She has accessories for dogs, homeware, clothing and accessories for humans and stationary all with the message that ‘life is merrier with a Scruffy Little Terrier.’

Slogans include Dogs Rule My World, You had me at Woof, and I believe in dog. I went for the olive green hoodie with Scruffy Little Terrier on.

Karen Wallis Pet Portraits
Our portrait of Patch

A pet pawtrait

I am lucky enough to have three of these, two of Daisy and one of Patch.

Tommy’s friend Karen Wallis painted them and I’ve had them for birthday and Christmas presents.

I have thousands of photos of my dogs but a hand painted portrait is really special and something to treasure forever.

Portraits start from £95 from Pet Portraits by Karen Wallis

Pawsitive Moment Candle
If you love candles, try this pet friendly one from Doolittles and Co

Pawsitive moments pet friendly candle by Dolittles and Co

Did you know candles can irritate our dogs? Kat from Doolittles and Co has created a range of pet friendly scents which look and smell gorgeous.

They’re home made and hand poured, burn for 40 hours and won’t bother your fur baby.

Christmas gifts terrier owner lead and collar set
Patch in his festive Reg and Bob red combo

Reg and Bob collar and lead set

When I find something I like I stick to it and we have three of these in red, green and blue. Green is my favourite!

I discovered them shortly after losing Daisy which was a shame as she loved rolling in poo and they would have been ideal as they wash really well and don’t lose their colour.

They’re simple, stylish, durable collars for dogs who like to be dogs.

Cosy Canine Company Dog Mum T Shirt
The Dog Mum T shirt is another wardrobe fave!

Dog Mum T shirt

I love this ‘dog mum’ t shirt and Tommy has a ‘dog dad’ one too.

It’s embroidered on and made of quite thick cotton so warm enough for winter and is the ideal Christmas gift for a terrier owner.

I’ve bought t shirts online before and they’ve been a bit cheap but this is great quality and you can also get ‘dog hair don’t care’ and other messages.

T Shirt, £24.95 from The Cosy Canine Company.

Yappy Dog Bowl
Patch’s new bowl

Personalised Dog Bowl

Last year Tommy and the girls got me a load of Yappy pressies and their personalisation is amazing – so like Patch.

I love this dog bowl which has Patch’s name on and we went for mint green.

Regular readers will know we also have Yappy notepads, coasters, mugs, phone covers, bandanas… I’ll stop now!

ByBenji Biltong
Patch is a big ByBenji fan

By Benji Biltong sausages

If you have a terrier, recall can be a challenge. Patch’s trainer Sue McCabe taught us about high value treats and these sausages fit the bill.

I’ve followed Roz from ByBenji on social media for ages and I was so chuffed when The Dog Hoose started stocking ByBenji biltong made from premium silverside beef.

Patch loves them and I break them up and put them in his treat pot. I also put them in his treat dispenser for him to snuffle out.

ByBenji sausages start at £1.49 for a 15g snack pack at www.bybenji.com

Patch loves a Chuck It ball

Chuck It balls

What terrier doesn’t love a ball? Patch goes crazy for Chuck It Toys and so did Daisy.

There must be something in the smell – there was one that we had to hide in the shed because she was so excited by it.

Patch is getting two of the durable, high bounce Ultra balls and we buy the medium sized ones.

Chuck It balls, two for £6.90 on Amazon but prices do vary.

How fab is this wine bottle label?

The Liberator Wine Episode 19

We found this in our local wine shop and how cute is the terrier on the label?

It’s named The Teeth of a Dog and we’ve yet to open our bottle but one review says: “An impressive Chardonnay that wouldn’t look out of place in Montrachet with its complex characters.

“This wine combines power with restraint, richness with vibrant acidity, due in part to expertly handled oak.”

Wine, £14.99 at www.simplywinesdirect.uk

I hope there’s lots of inspiration there for you as a terrier parent and that you and your dog have a lovely Christmas.

And if there are any must have Christmas gifts for terrier owners we need to know about, send us a message on social media or in the comments!
