Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 Pet Review: the perfect cordless vacuum for pet owners

When you share your life with a dog or cat, there are lots of aspects that are simply the best.

But I think we can all agree that pet hair everywhere is not one of them!

A regular vacuum rarely steps up to the mark.

Many pet owners prefer to opt for a pet-specific vacuum, targeted to remove even the finest of hairs and dirt from your favourite rug!

We tried out and tested the new Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 Pet  for a gifted review* and here is our feedback.

  • On board crevice tool
  • Powered Floorhead with antimicrobial protection
  • Mini motorised pet tool

We were also sent the ProKit 2 which contained:

  • Accessory bag

We were gifted both by Vax in return for an honest review.

Why is the Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 Pet ideal for pet owners?

It’s a cordless vacuum, which makes cleaning so much easier, especially when there’s a pet involved.

It has a wall mount unit, so when it’s not in use, you clip it to the wall.

And, as long as the battery is charged, this means whenever there’s anything to clean up, you just pick it up and off you go.

No plugs, no lugging around a big vacuum which is what we had before.

If they’ve just brought a ton of mud in from the garden or left crumbs from munching their biscuits all over the carpet, then it’s a super simple grab and a whizz round, and you’re done.

The brush blade on the Vax is protected from a build up of bacteria as it’s been coated with an antimicrobial treatment, which is reassuring given how germ ridden our pups can be.

The brush blade is also removable, which is brilliant news for pet owners, as it’s easy to take out and unwind the hair it’s collected.

I have to confess that as well as Patch’s black and white hair, there was a lot of mine too. I think I may moult as much as him!

The Vax Blade 4 is quiet enough for Patch to continue snoozing as I clean up after him

The other thing I really like about this cordless device was the fact that it vacuums at three different intensities.

So if you have a really stubborn bit of dirt, then you can press the boost button, and it goes into super suction mode!

Another confession – as a mother of terriers we still find Daisy’s hair in the furniture and God bless her, she died nearly three years ago.

I think this shows just how much staying power terrier hair has because I am pretty hot on cleaning!

How is the Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 Pet different from other cordless vacuums?

The Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 Pet has come up trumps for carpet cleaning when compared to the top three cordless vacuums in the UK.

I think that pretty much says it all.

The waste collection chamber on the Vax Blade 4

It’s a lightweight yet very powerful hoover. It sucks up 99.8% of particles, resulting in even the tiniest dander and dust being zapped up, leaving the place spotless.

It holds its charge for 45 minutes, which is enough to give the average flat or house a really good clean.

If you have a larger home, you can buy an additional battery for £70, giving you enough power for a 90-minute blitz.

The Vax Blade 4 also comes with a Pro Kit with extra attachments for tough cleaning

Does the Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 Pet do anything special when it comes to cleaning up after pets?

I found that the light-up function on this device was fantastic.

It showed up all the tiny bits of fluff and dust, particularly in corners, meaning you don’t miss anything.

The head of the vacuum swivels in such a way that zooming in and getting all those tricky to reach places was super easy.

It comes with a mini motorised pet tool that is fantastic for cleaning the dog bed, upholstery, and the doormat that catches all the dirt!

It’s lightweight too at just 3.1kg, which I love as it makes doing the stairs and moving from room to room a breeze.

It also transitions from carpet to wooden floor seamlessly and deals with both surfaces well.

Can I use the Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 outside the house?

Yes! This is one of the best things about this cleaner.

Because it’s portable, you can use it to give the car a good clean up. It’ll work wonders on your boot and all around the car.

Even with mats and bedding down in the car, dirt and dog hair still seems to get into every crevice.

The ProKit 2 extras includes a Flexi crevice tool for awkward gaps, so ideal for the car and a tough dirt tool for ground in dirt which I’ve used on my car mats.

With a simple push of the button, you go from having a stick vacuum to a handheld, which means there’s no excuse not to give the car a quick once over. (Or get Tommy to)

The mini motorised pet tool is ideal for the car and other hard to reach places

As well as the unique pet tool, it also comes with a crevice tool and a dusting brush making it simple to get into the little nooks and crannies in your motor.

Is the Vax easy to clean and empty?

Yes, its 0.6litre bin is see-through, which makes it easy to spot when it’s full.

Emptying the container is simple too.

The cylinder clips off, hold it over your bin, and with a quick flick of the catch, you can empty everything away.

I use a poo bag to capture the debris inside as I have a dust allergy, and each of the brands I use fit over the end to keep you from breathing in the direct.

You can also open the other end to remove the filter and give it a rinse through.
