Pet friendly products we tried and tested in May

We love trying out pet friendly products for our dog blog!

And this month we have a very special tester, our friend Layla the White Boxer Dog.
Layla lives with my friends Chris and Jane in Stockport and is a gorgeous young puppy who kindly lent a paw in sampling some dog friendly goodies.
Her owner Chris shares how she got on with a Reg & Bob collar and lead, a Pets At Home Hippo Toy, a Teddy Maximus Royal Wedding Bow Tie and some yummy treats from Top Collar.

Reg & Bob collar and lead set

The creative team at Reg & Bob contacted us to see if we’d like to try out their lead and collar set so we took a look to find out what they’re all about.
Their website says they offer ‘vibrant, fun collars and leads for dogs that want to be dogs,’ so we thought they sounded pawfect!
As a pup, Layla is into everything, jumping in water, running through mud, so having accessories that are hardwearing and durable is a must – and washable too.
We chose the pink and blue collar and matching lead. The collar is a nice, bright colour which looks great on Layla.
The clip is bigger and more substantial than most and generally feels well put together – you want to know your dog’s collar is secure.
The lead is nice and light and folds up easily into your pocket. This is a great set for active dogs and looks stylish too.

Teddy Maximus Special Edition Royal Wedding Bow Tie

This was a limited edition accessory that Teddy Maximus gifted to Daisy before she was poorly – she was a huge fan of riding round in her Teddy Maximus carrier.
Sadly she wasn’t able to wear it as she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in April so Rachel asked us if we’d like to model it in her memory which we were so happy to do.
The bow tie has a luxury feel to it – it’s not something to be worn on muddy walks – and the Royal Wedding edition has a little red crown embroidered on it.
It has two elastic straps and you can slip it on any collar. Layla loved showing off wearing it when I took her to work with me.
I think the Navy Signature print looks really striking on her – it has cute dogs on – and the ties come in a range of other washable fabrics.
She wore it for the Royal Wedding of course and it’s something we’ll use all year round for special occasions.

Top Collar Sunday Roast and Bacon Butty dog treats

We’ve been chatting to the makers of these lovely treats on Instagram and I’ll be honest, I quite fancied trying some of them myself!
If Jane and I are enjoying a bacon butty or a roast dinner, of course Layla’s head will pop up at the table wanting to have a nibble.
Having treats that recreate the foods we eat that dogs like the smell of gets the paws up from us and they come in a cute heart shape.
The Top Collar ethos is that they create healthy, nutritious treats with a human twist and you subscribe to have a box posted fortnightly.
Send a photo of your dog to them then you’re sent hand baked, gluten free goodies that are made in Britain with a photo of your pup on the box.
Just make sure you get to the letterbox before they do!

Each treat box is £5.99 www.topcollar.co.uk

Yum – Layla can tuck into bacon butties and roast dinners just like her dad!

Pets At Home Hippo cuddly toy

This was the first toy we bought Layla when she came to live with us as a puppy and it’s her favourite.
It has a squeaker inside and it’s made of lovely, soft, plush fabric, so it’s nice for them to cuddle up with when they have a nap.
Layla loves carrying hers around and it’s been covered in mud many times from her playing with it in the garden, but after a quick wash it’s as good as new.
This is a really durable toy, and an absolute bargain too.

We’d like to say a big thanks to Chris and Layla for being our guest testers this month!

* We are unable to review pet food. Our doggy reviewers are each on a set diet and we feel it is unfair to switch their foods, but they are very yappy to try treats!
